What is Flourishing Faith? (New Beginnings)

When I was a teenager growing up, I was very fortunate to have had a church and network around me who supported me, encouraged me and uplifted me, even in my most awkward of moments. It was extremely reassuring to know that no matter what I did, people still loved and cared about me. The world I grew up in consisted of a lot of change. Social Media and the idea of 'celebrity' radically changed and made these dreams many little girls have, more possible to be a reality. The people I looked up to, loved, and their lives I dreamt about realistically were not the kinds of people God wanted me to be aspiring to be like.

I began searching for inspirational people of a similar 'celebrity' or 'well known' status and really struggled. God didn't want me to stop watching Youtube videos or following anyone on Instagram but these people needed to make me feel worthy and accepted, not unworthy and stupid. At the start of 2017, a really good friend of mine introduced me to a Youtube couple called Jess and Gabriel Conte,  an Australian- American couple who were normal- but Christian. Before this discovery, the only Christian Bloggers/ Youtubers were crazy off their heads in love with informing everyone about what they were doing wrong, and not showing love and compassion. To me being a Christian in today's world doesn't mean I can't make the usually watched Youtube videos of Beauty and Fashion or write about what I eat in a day, instead I do all this whilst also showing the loving character of God, with life, hope and truth.

This is where this blog came in, many of these Christian Influencers I have since found are all American. All the actually cute, wearable religiously influenced clothing- American. All the cute mugs, American. Stickers, American. Notepads, American. I have yet to find things I actually love that isn't American (disclaimer there is a website called cheerfully given but compared to the American Market we are way behind!) Bloggers who talk about God, American. I created this blog with the idea to talk about God, Beauty, Fashion and all things life without becoming that crazy Bible bashing lady.

Psalm 92 v 12-13 says 'The righteous thrive like a Palm tree and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon. Planted in the House of the Lord they will flourish in the courts of our God'. The aim of Flourishing Faith is to create a community which is Planted in God and flourishes together.

Something about this feels exciting and scary all at the same time, I have lots of exciting ideas and big dreams planned out for this new beginning, and I can't wait to share it all with you.

All the Love and Hugs in the world
Kirsten xxx
