A New Name...

"We carry labels the world gives us, name badges on our hearts- then we meet God and we are given a new name."

Names, we don't choose them, they get chosen for us. As does nicknames although they usually aren't as pleasant. Names can be a label, they sometimes come with negative connotations or sometimes just as badly they come with positive ones.

Quite often we want to change our name, change our identity, start afresh when no one knows you and no one knows your past.

With God that is completely possible when we become a Christian we are given a clean slate and that all important new start- our past is forgotten and our future is secure. 

In 2 Corinthians it says 'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, the old has gone the new has come.' 

We were created by God to live a purposeful life, for God. When we are made new the self fulfilling love we often try so hard to achieve is gone and the inward looking love of God is what we seek.
