Esther: Women In The Bible Week 9

"When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down or pay homage to him, Haman was filled with fury. But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus." - Esther 3v5-6

"When Mordecai learned all that had been done, Mordecai tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city and cried out with a loud and bitter cry. He went up to the entrance of the king's gate, for no one was allowed up to the king's gate in sackcloth." When Esther's young women came and told her, the queen was deeply distressed. She sent garments to clothe Mordecai but he would not accept them. Then Esther called for Hathach, one of the king's ennuchs, who had been appointed to attend her, and ordered him to go to Mordecai and learn what this was and why it was. So Hathach went out to Mordecai and he told him all that had happened to him."

"Hathach went and told Esther what Mordecai had said. Then Esther spoke to Hathach and commanded him to go to Mordecai and say "All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called there is but one law- to be put to death, except the one whom the king holds out the golden scepter so that he may live. But as for me, I have not been called to come in to the king in these thirty days."

"And they told Mordecai what Esther had said. Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther "Do not think to yourself that in the king's palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows wether you whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, "Go gather all the Jews to be found in Susa and hold a fast on my behalf and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day, and I and my young women will also fast as you do."

Life is full of "what ifs" most of them full of fears and worry
What if i'm not good enough?
What if they don't like me?
What if I fail?
What if they leave me?
What if they let me down?
Something common that runs throughout these 'What if's' are another person or me, it's us that believe we aren't good enough or it's us that worry what other people are going to do to us.
But when I hang all my hopes, dreams, aspirations on other people they have failed before they have even started, when you look to other people to fulfil my life staying empty and broken is the inevitable. When you don't focus on God and his plans and promises for you, all your "what if's" aren't faith filled they are fear filled.

No-one could have predicted Esther's 'what ifs' her life was unconventional raised by Mordecai (her cousin) after her parent's died she was summoned to the king's palace in the search for a successor (Esther 1) Throughout her 'Royal Training' her identity remained a secret, she was/is a Jew, the King took to her and made her queen. A tale of Orphan girl to queen.
However this was only the start of Esther's journey of life, when Mordecai refused to bow to the King, Haman the king's top advisor issued a decree that all Jews in the land should be killed, by granting Haman this power Esther's king had unknowingly declared the killing of her people.

The 'What Ifs' pacing Esther's mind and heart at this time must have been crazy, and not only did these decisions matter for her, but the entire Jewish race the life of all her people hung in the balance. If Esther decided to intervene it could have cost her, life. However Mordecai spoke to Esther and said... (one of my favourite bible verses)

"And who knows whether you have not come for such a time as this?" Esther 4v14

Mordecai spoke through faith, he believed the Jews would be delivered but what if this was the very reason God but her in that place, God puts us in situations and places in our life for the right time- 'What If' this was Esther's time? What if this is the very reason you are here?
Esther decided to seek God and ask him, she wanted to find God's will for the situation and she did this publicly by asking everyone to fast and pray for three days even if her earthly king hated it and wanted her dead she didn't care, she doesn't answer to him she answers to God the Father and the one true King- and THAT King used her to rescue her people from death.

"For all the promises of God find their yes in him. That is why it is through him we utter our Amen to God for his glory."
2 Corinthians 1 v 20

"What if I fall, but darling what if you fly."
