Love Heart Cookies

This week was valentines day and I thought what better a time to make some treats for everyone, who said valentines couldn't be for friends and families? These shortbread biscuits are quick and so easy to make.

Ingredients

2 Cups of Flour
1 Cup of Butter
1/2 a Cup of Caster Sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 a teaspoon of salt
Icing Sugar
Pink Food Colouring

Method

1. Cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl.
2. Add the vanilla extract and salt, and continue mixing.
3. Add the flour slowly, this is mainly so it doesn't go everywhere.
4. Once combined, roll it out into a nice neat ball, wrap it in cling film and put it in the fridge. I did this because the kitchen gets so hot and it helps it roll out later on.
5. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
6. Roll out and cut your biscuits, I doubled the recipe and it made loads of biscuits.
7. Pop them in the oven for around 12-15 minutes depending on how thick they are, mine were really thick and took a little longer. Until they are golden brown.
8. Leave them to cool for a few hours.
9. Make up the icing, this is a bit of trial and error, I added a little bit of warm water at a time to make sure it wasn't too runny.
10. Start with the white icing and dip them straight into the icing and pop them on the side to set.
11. Add a little pink food colouring to make the lighter pink shade, and repeat.
12. Add some more food colouring and repeat again.

And Voila! There you have, beautiful love heart shortbread biscuits.
Let me know if you try them out!

See you on Monday
Lots of Love
